MEET YOUTH CO:LAB
Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth, so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship. Youth Co:Lab has been implemented in 25 countries and territories across Asia Pacific.

THE SUCCESS IDENTITY
Optimize the channel, rebrand the channel & grow the subscriber count.
The team at Youth Colab was seeking help to transform their YouTube channel into a modern and engaging space to share their video content. They required someone who could revitalize the YouTube Channel and create a set of guidelines for future uploads as well as give advice on how to create a channel that would hopefully reach and impact thousands of young people in Asia and the Pacific.

PULLING THE STRINGS
I partnered up with Pete and the UNDP team to work towards optimising the YouTube channel, growing the subscribers & visually rebranding the channel in order to help them gain more traction, visibility and reach. Besides that, I also worked on the channel and video SEO to ensure the videos ranked appropriately.

THE TIMELINE
The steps taken towards making the project a success were as follows (timeline below)
Onboarding
Pete and I set up a call to formalize ourselves with each other as well as with the scope of the project.
The implementation phase
I started working on the first phase of the project, which was optimizing the videos, channel SEO, tags, keywords as well as ensuring all videos were licensed appropriately.
Phase 2
We moved into the second phase of the project and got started with the visual rebranding of the channel, segmenting videos into playlists and ensuring the videos had click worthy thumbnails.
The Youth CO:LAB Virtual Summit
The summit kicked off and we were able to hook and lure in an active audience, boost the watch time and video retention as well as double the subscribers.

Challenges

Some of the major challenges faced in the project were a lack of consistent branding across the channel. There was also a backlog of videos neither optimized nor properly licensed copyright wise. Youth Co:Lab being a non profit, there was need to pivot our strategy in several cases to cater for that aspect.

THE WIN
Working together with Youth Co:lab, we efficiently leveraged effective YouTube marketing strategies to impact the channel and hit the key performance indicators. Some examples of the results we were able to achieve were;
